Job Summary:
A brake press operator operates machinery to bend and shape sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications. They are responsible for setting up the press brake, loading materials, monitoring the bending process, and inspecting the finished products for quality and accuracy. They also perform routine maintenance on the machine and ensure a clean work area.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow safety guidelines
- Follow standard work instructions as assigned
- Perform hands-on tasks
- Lift up to 50lbs, stand, bend, and reach
- Maintain clean and organized workspace
- Troubleshoot equipment issues
- Experience with CNC, a plus
- Routine maintenance checks
- Ensure product meets customer specifications
- Meet production standards
- Work in a team environment
- Accurate recordkeeping and quality documentation
- Inspection of product
- Set up and operation of machinery
Other Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up the press brake: This includes selecting the appropriate tooling, determining the working tonnage, and programming the machine if it’s a CNC press brake.
- Loading and unloading materials: Ensuring proper positioning and alignment of sheet metal within the press brake.
- Operating the press brake: Monitoring the bending process and making adjustments as needed to achieve the desired shape and angle.
- Inspecting finished products: Checking for accuracy, defects, and adherence to specifications. Performing routine maintenance: Keeping the press brake clean, well-maintained, and in optimal working condition.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving: Identifying and addressing issues that arise during the bending process. Adhering to safety regulations: Following all safety protocols and procedures within the manufacturing facility.
